Profil Zaufany (trusted profile)¶
What is Profil Zaufany
It’s a free way to prove who you are when you use government services. You can do quite a lot online with it; for us it matters because you can submit your sole proprietorship (JDG) application and other paperwork online. More info on the gov.pl site
You need a PESEL number to register a trusted profile.
What you need Profil Zaufany for¶
The trusted profile is the key to almost every Polish government service online. With it you can:
- register a JDG on biznes.gov.pl;
- log in to eZUS and file ZUS declarations;
- deal with the tax office in e-Urząd Skarbowy: view your data, send a pismo ogólne, sign PIT declarations;
- apply for a residence card via MOS;
- sign documents with podpis zaufany (for government bodies it is equivalent to a handwritten signature).
Profil Zaufany through a bank¶
If you already opened a bank account using your PESEL, you can use that bank account to create the profile.
- Go to ePUAP.
- Follow:
Zaloguj się->profil zaufany->Zaloguj się przy pomocy banku lub innego dostawcyand pick your bank.
You’ll land on the bank’s page: enter login (Wpisz login), password (Wpisz hasło), then whatever else the bank asks for (Santander asked for email again and an SMS code). After that the account is registered and you get an email about it.
This is the fastest way: the profile is created immediately, no office visit needed.
Profil Zaufany online via gov.pl¶
If you don’t have a bank account yet, you can fill in an application (wniosek) at the urząd or online.
To do it online, follow the link to the gov.pl site.
- click
Załóż profil zaufany - then choose
W urzędzie— meaning fill in online and confirm at the office - pass the captcha
- fill in the form
- confirm phone and email (both must be real and something you can actually access)
- pick a convenient confirmation location from the list — an urząd
- take your passport, PESEL, and go get it confirmed
Logging in to Profil Zaufany¶
You can log in to your profile on the Profil Zaufany site (pz.gov.pl), and on government sites (biznes.gov.pl, the tax office, etc.) — via the Login.gov.pl button, choosing Profil Zaufany there. Ways to log in:
- login (or email) and password — if you have set them;
- through your bank — click your bank’s icon on the login page and authorize in your online banking.
If the profile was created through a bank, you may not have a separate password at all, and the bank is the only way in. To avoid going through the bank every time, set a login and password in the profile settings. If that’s stuck — reset the password via email (Nie pamiętam hasła on the login page) and set a new one. After that you can log in with login + password.
Validity period and renewal¶
A trusted profile is valid for 3 years, then it has to be extended — which takes a minute online and can be done an unlimited number of times:
- Log in on pz.gov.pl.
- Open your profile details and click
Przedłuż ważność. - Confirm with an authorization code.
Only a still-valid profile can be extended, so don’t wait until it expires — you get an email warning when the date approaches. If the profile has expired anyway, you’ll have to create it again (via a bank that happens instantly). More in the gov.pl renewal instructions.
